Offers reviews as well as link to download
Yahoo has launched an app filtering tool to its search engine. Yahoo's main page now gives a user a tab for Apps as well as the traditional Web, Images, Video, Local and More. With it, users can get app only search results and filter them for either iOS or Android apps.
Yahoo also provides secondary filtering by price and category. Once a desired app is found, Yahoo either takes the searcher to either to the Android Market or App Store webpage for that app, or sends the link to their smartphone or tablet. The search engine also provides a QR code for the app for scanning.
Yahoo's app search results webpage also provides reviews of the app for checking it out before clicking over to the download page.
The tool serves as a unique alternative to shopping for apps from either company's own store and reflects a consistent problem with discovering apps on either platform. Apple has usually been lauded for exposing more apps from small developers, but many small developers often have trouble standing out versus established rivals on either platform.
