Norton, known for its antivirus and anti-spyware software, has jumped into the mobile arena with its new cloud-based security service known as Identity Safe.
Identity Safe is a free password management application that is designed for both mobile and desktop devices, allowing users to store and manage logins and passwords for all of their applications, websites, and services.
The technology was first used in Norton Internet Security and Norton 360, but it is now available as a standalone application. When the application has been installed, users only need to remember a single master password to launch any of the stored services. Thanks to cloud integration, the login information can be synced across all of a person’s different devices, both mobile and desktop.
Currently in beta, the software also comes bundled with Norton Safe Web protection, which is a free reputation tool that maintains a continually updated database of potentially dangerous URLs and unsafe sites.
Identify Safe for the PC can be downloaded on the Norton website, and the free app beta can be entered using the QR code on the Identity Safe beta website. In order to use the iOS app, you must download the PC version first, so I guess Mac users are out of luck for now.
